Text Box: A lot of planning is made when we decide which dogs to breed.  The genealogy is looked at, temperaments, trainability, colors, age, health checks.  The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals Certification OFFA (a vet specialist to exam the hips, elbows, eyes, and heart, results of the exam to be verified by a panel of doctors and then the decision is mailed to you) exams expectations is that your dog comes back with an Excellent rating.
Gestation is 60-65 days and a lot of attention is given to mom.  When birthing begins, many things can go wrong no matter how natural the dog acts. An ultrasound at the 45 day gestation period help determine how many pups are coming. We  keep the pups confined in a area indoors, where there is limited exposure to the environment.  By day three of their birth, their dew claws are removed.
Once the vet clears them to start to wonder outside in the yard, we allow them to socialized with other dogs.
A good hunting/service dog is not shy to others dogs, guns, or loud noises.  A lot of play time is important too.
The full vaccinations series are given at the right timelines and literature is given to the new puppy owner on PARVO.
